NSC FUNFEST 2010
March 6 & 7, 2010
Magna Centre - Forhan Arena

What is it?
NSC holds a FunFest every year to celebrate our skaters accomplishments and to showcase the skills they have learned.  Every NSC member, from the youngest to the oldest, is invited to participate.  A variety of events are designed specifically for every level in the Canskate and Kidskate programs as well as for all our figure skaters (Starskate).

How do I determine which event is appropriate for my skater?
Members of the NSC Executive will be available to discuss the events during each Canskate, Kidskate and Junior session from February 8th to February 14th.  We will have a table set up downstairs at the Magna Centre, just outside of the dressing room hallway.

All Kidskate participants (in the Kidskate skating program for 3-5 year olds) can participate in Event #1 or Event #2 for Busy Bees.

All Canskate participants (in the Canskate program for 5 years and older) can participate in Events #1 through #12 and the appropriate event depends on which badge they have passed as of January 25/09.  For example, a Canskater who is working on Stage 3 as of January 24th will be in the Happy Hoppers event.

For all Starskaters, your private coach will be able to provide you all the information relative to your skater.

What is the difference between Busy Bee Elements and Busy Bee Solo?
There are two types of events for all Kidskaters and Canskaters and skaters may participate in either or both of these:
  1. One event (for example, Busy Bees Elements) is an "elements" event where the skater performs three elements from their badge level within a small group of six skaters.  There will be numerous groups of skaters on the ice at the same time, each working within their designated area.
  2. The other event (Busy Bees Solo) is a "solo" event where the skater performs a one-minute choreographed routine to music.  There are two skaters on the ice at the same time, each performing their routine on half the ice surface.

Skaters will practice the elements and solos during their sessions in February.  For any skaters who are shy or nervous to be on the ice alone during the event, a Program Assistant will be more than happy to accompany the skater through his/her routine.
